Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan wins first Being Edinburgh Award
China's top respiratory expert has been named winner of the first Being Edinburgh Award. The award honors the achievements of alumni of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan has been at the forefront of China's fight against SARS and COVID-19. He won more than 90 percent of the vote from the university's students, faculty, and fellow alumni. The university says Zhong's contributions to China's battle against COVID-19 resonates with its community.
Zhong Nanshan 鐘南山 born 20 October 1936, is a Chinese pulmonologist. Zhong was educated at Beijing Medical University, where he finished his residency training in internal medicine.
He completed further training at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London and the University of Edinburgh Medical School between 1979 and 1981, graduating from the University of Edinburgh Medical School with an MD in 1981. Wikipedia
